Farrow

Location from The Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb

The largest inland duchy — Regal's power base after he abandoned Buckkeep, where he built a fraudulent inland court while the coast burned.

Farrow is where Regal retreated when he abandoned the coast to the Red Ships, moving the court inland to Tradeford. The duchy became a symbol of the kingdom's political rot — rich, comfortable, and willfully ignorant of the suffering on its borders. The Farrow nobility embraced Regal's court and its Jamaillian affectations, preferring silk to steel.

Appearance

A vast inland duchy of rolling plains and gentle rivers. The landscape is open and pastoral, strikingly different from the harsh coast. Tradeford, the city Regal built up as his alternative capital, features Jamaillian-influenced architecture — more elegant and less fortress-like than Buckkeep.
