Character from The Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb
A cheerful Rain Wild keeper who fell too deeply into Elderling memories — becoming as much ancient warrior as modern boy, with all the glory and danger that implies.
Rapskal starts as the expedition's optimist — cheerful, fearless, slightly annoying in his relentless positivity. But exposure to Elderling memory stones in Kelsingra begins overwriting his personality with the memories of an ancient Elderling warrior, and the cheerful boy starts giving way to someone more commanding and less recognizable. It's one of Hobb's most unsettling transformations because the change is so gradual that nobody notices until it's too late.
Initially a bright-eyed, enthusiastic young man with Rain Wild scaling. His Elderling transformation is dramatic — he develops scarlet and gold coloring that matches his dragon Heeby, and his bearing shifts from youthful enthusiasm to something older and more martial as Elderling memories overlay his personality.
