Character from The Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb
The false White Prophet — a rival seer who allied with the OutIslands raiders and tortured the Fool, believing that her vision of the future was the one worth preserving.
The Pale Woman speaks with absolute conviction about her role as the true White Prophet, and that certainty makes her terrifying. She is not insane — she genuinely believes the future she envisions is the correct one and will torture, manipulate, and kill to bring it about. Her cruelty toward the Fool is personal as well as ideological; they are rival prophets and she needs him to be wrong. She allied with the OutIslands and the Red Ship raiders, using Forging as a weapon to destabilize the Six Duchies. Her stronghold on Aslevjal is a monument to her vision of a frozen, dragon-free world.
Tall and colorless — white skin, white hair, pale eyes — a mirror image of what the Fool once was, but where the Fool's pallor suggests otherworldliness, hers suggests something drained and predatory. She surrounds herself with cold luxury in her island stronghold, draped in white furs and pale silks.
