Nettle Farseer

Character from The Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb

Fitz's firstborn daughter — raised by Burrich, ignorant of her true parentage, who grew into the most powerful Skillmistress the Farseers have produced in generations.

Nettle is direct, competent, and slower to forgive than any other Farseer. She grew up believing Burrich was her father, and when the truth of her parentage emerged, she had every right to be furious — with Fitz for abandoning her, with Molly for the deception, with the entire Farseer apparatus for using her family as pieces on a board. She channeled that anger into becoming indispensable. As Skillmistress she commands the Skill coteries with a firmness that brooks no argument. Her relationship with Fitz is loving but permanently complicated by the years he spent watching her from afar instead of being present.

Appearance

Dark-haired with a strong resemblance to Molly, though her Farseer features show through in her bone structure and bearing. She carries herself with the quiet authority of a woman who has earned her position through talent rather than birth, which is ironic given that birth gave her the Skill that made the talent possible.
