Character from The Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb
The wisest of the Rain Wild dragons — a golden dragon whose inherited memories are more intact than most, making him the reluctant leader of a generation that barely knows what it should be.
Mercor is patient and thoughtful where other dragons are impulsive and demanding. He remembers more of dragon history than his siblings, which gives him a gravity they lack. He acts as a mediator between the dragons and their human keepers, and his counsel carries weight even with Tintaglia. He represents the possibility that the new generation of dragons might actually rebuild rather than just survive.
A large golden dragon with warm, honey-colored scales and eyes that carry more intelligence and awareness than any of his siblings. He is one of the more completely formed dragons, though still smaller than ancient standards.
