Dathomir

Location from The Mandalorian by Jon Favreau

Nightsister homeworld of red skies and twisted forests. Steeped in dark magick predating the Sith. The Great Mothers drew their power from this world before departing for Peridea.

Dathomir is a world the Force forgot to balance. The dark side saturates everything — the soil, the twisted trees, the red-tinged air. Nightsister magick is not Sith sorcery; it is older, wilder, rooted in the planet itself. The forests are alive in unsettling ways — branches seem to reach, shadows move against the light, and the dead do not always stay dead. Nightsister zombies, reanimated by ichor-green magick, patrol the ruins of their civilization. The Great Mothers who allied with Thrawn traced their lineage to this world before the purge that scattered the Nightsisters. Morgan Elsbeth's power drew from Dathomiri traditions. The air tastes of copper and ozone, and even Force-null visitors report nightmares after spending a night on the surface.

Appearance

A planet bathed in crimson light from its red-giant star. Gnarled, leafless trees claw at blood-red skies. Green mist drifts between rock formations. Nightsister temples and altars of black stone sit in forest clearings, their surfaces carved with sigils that seem to shift when not watched directly.
