Whistling Birds

Item from The Mandalorian by Jon Favreau

Mandalorian wrist-mounted micro-missiles. A cluster of heat-seeking projectiles launched from the vambrace that produce a distinctive whistling sound as they track multiple targets simultaneously.

Whistling birds are the Mandalorian answer to being outnumbered. Launched from the vambrace in a single volley, each micro-missile independently tracks a heat signature, making them devastating in close quarters against multiple enemies. The name comes from the eerie harmonic whistle they produce in flight — a sound that has become synonymous with impending death in bounty hunter circles. The Armorer forged Din's whistling birds from a beskar ingot, making them both weapon and cultural artifact. They are single-use per loading and precious enough that a Mandalorian thinks carefully before deploying them.

Appearance

Tiny dart-like missiles housed in the left vambrace of Mandalorian armor. When deployed, they launch in a swarm — a dozen or more thumb-sized projectiles trailing thin smoke contrails, each seeking a different heat signature.
