Tusken Gaffi Stick

Item from The Mandalorian by Jon Favreau

Traditional Tusken Raider melee weapon — a sturdy staff with a heavy flanged head. Boba Fett earned the right to carry one during his years living among a Tusken tribe on Tatooine.

The gaffi stick is the Tusken Raider's identity forged in metal. Every Tusken warrior crafts their own, and the weapon serves as tool, weapon, and cultural marker. The flanged head can crack durasteel plating, and Tusken fighting techniques — rapid spinning strikes combined with thrusting attacks — are far more sophisticated than outsiders expect. Boba Fett earned his gaffi stick by training with the Tusken tribe that took him in after his escape from the sarlacc. For Fett, the weapon represents a period of humility and rebirth — stripped of his armor and reputation, he learned to fight and survive as the Tuskens do. He continued to use Tusken combat techniques even after reclaiming his Mandalorian identity, blending two warrior traditions into something uniquely his.

Appearance

A metal staff roughly 1.5 meters long, topped with a double-flanged mace head. The shaft is wrapped in leather and bone at the grip. Each gaffi stick is hand-forged by its wielder, making each unique in detail though consistent in form.

Also known as: gaffi stick, gaderffii
