Dr. Pershing

Character from The Mandalorian by Jon Favreau

A conflicted Imperial scientist researching Grogu's blood for cloning experiments, Dr. Pershing is a man whose genuine scientific curiosity has been weaponized by people far more ruthless than himself.

Dr. Penn Pershing is a scientist who wanted to save lives and ended up serving an empire that destroys them. His research into cloning and Force-sensitive blood was originally motivated by genuine idealism about medical advancement, but Moff Gideon twisted that research toward darker purposes. After the Empire's fall, Pershing surrendered to the New Republic and entered their amnesty program, genuinely hoping to redirect his work toward beneficial ends. But the New Republic's bureaucracy is almost as suffocating as the Empire's, and shadowy Imperial agents embedded within the system have their own plans for his expertise. He is brilliant, weak-willed, and deeply aware that he is a pawn — just never quite brave enough to stop being one.

Appearance

Slight, nervous human male with wire-rimmed glasses and thinning hair. Wears a rumpled lab coat or New Republic-issue civilian clothing depending on his current captors. Fidgets constantly. Looks perpetually out of place anywhere that is not a laboratory.
