Location from The Locked Tomb by Tamsyn Muir
A besieged city beyond the Nine Houses' borders — the Nona-era safe haven where Pyrrha, Camilla, and a planetary consciousness disguised as a six-month-old tried to live a normal life during an apocalypse.
New Rho is where Nona the Ninth takes place — a city caught between the Cohort, the Blood of Eden, and various local factions all competing for control. Pyrrha, Camilla, and Palamedes (in Camilla's body) live in a small apartment, caring for Nona and trying to stay alive in a city where necromancers are hunted. The city feels like a pressure cooker — too many people, too little space, too many weapons, and an impending catastrophe that everyone can feel coming. Despite this, Nona's chapters are some of the series' warmest, because she experiences the city with childlike joy: school friends, ice cream, the beach, the simple pleasure of being alive and loved.
A cramped, overcrowded city under siege conditions — concrete buildings, narrow streets, military checkpoints, and the constant background noise of a population living under threat. Think a Mediterranean port city that has been at war too long: beautiful bones, ugly current circumstances.
