Character from The Locked Tomb by Tamsyn Muir
The original Lyctor of the Second House — a soldier who consumed his cavalier Pyrrha and unknowingly carried her soul for ten thousand years.
Gideon the First was a soldier's soldier — practical, direct, and devoted to the Empire. He consumed Pyrrha during the original Lyctoral ascension, not knowing that her soul survived inside him as a passenger. They coexisted for ten millennia — Pyrrha watching through his eyes, occasionally taking control of his body when he slept. Their relationship was romantic and deeply complicated by the fact that one of them was technically dead and living inside the other. When Gideon the First finally died, Pyrrha took permanent control of his body, carrying on with the pragmatism both of them had always shared.
A large, strong-jawed man with deep brown Lyctoral eyes and the weathered features of a lifelong soldier. His body was eventually taken over by Pyrrha after his death.
