Location from The Legend of Zelda by Nintendo
A vast underground darkness beneath all of Hyrule — TotK's mirror-world where Gloom pools, Lightroots glow, and the Demon King's influence festers in total blackness.
The Depths are TotK's underground expansion — a complete mirror of Hyrule's surface, but dark, dangerous, and soaked in Gloom. Every surface shrine has a corresponding Lightroot in the Depths that, when activated, provides illumination and fast travel. The Demon King's influence is strongest here. Exploring the Depths requires Brightbloom Seeds for light, Sundelions for Gloom resistance, and courage that the game tests constantly. It is where Phantom Ganon lurks, where Kohga builds his vehicles, and where the emotional weight of TotK's story hits hardest.
Pitch-black underground caverns spanning the entire area beneath Hyrule's surface. Lightroots provide the only illumination — inverted mirror images of surface shrines. Gloom pools everywhere, reducing Link's max hearts on contact. The environment is oppressive, disorienting, and genuinely unsettling.
