Location from The Legend of Zelda by Nintendo
The birthplace of Hyrule and Link's tutorial prison — a secluded plateau where you wake up with nothing and earn the paraglider that opens the entire world.
The Great Plateau is BotW's masterclass in tutorial design. Link wakes in the Shrine of Resurrection with nothing — no weapons, no memories, no shirt. The plateau is a self-contained sandbox where players learn climbing, cooking, combat, and shrine-solving before King Rhoam gives them the Paraglider and the world opens up. It is also, lore-wise, the birthplace of the Kingdom of Hyrule — a sacred place where monsters should not roam. The Calamity changed that. In TotK, the plateau is partially crumbled.
A large elevated region with steep cliffs on all sides, preventing departure without the Paraglider. Contains the Shrine of Resurrection, four tutorial shrines, the ruined Temple of Time, the Old Man's Cabin, and the Forest of Spirits. Green and peaceful despite the post-apocalyptic state of the kingdom below.
