Gerudo Town

Location from The Legend of Zelda by Nintendo

The all-female desert settlement where Link must cross-dress to enter — a warrior culture's capital where 'no voe allowed' means exactly what it says.

Gerudo Town enforces a strict 'no voe (men) allowed' policy, which means Link must disguise himself in Gerudo vai clothing to enter — one of BotW's most memorable moments. Inside, the town is vibrant and bustling: a jewelry shop, armor shop, general store, cooking pots, and the royal palace where Riju holds court. The town reflects Gerudo culture — matriarchal, warrior-trained, practical. The Gerudo train from childhood, trade across Hyrule, and maintain their own governance. A male Gerudo is born only once every hundred years, and that tradition produced Ganondorf.

Appearance

Sandstone architecture with vibrant colored fabrics, market stalls, and the royal palace at its center. Surrounded by desert walls. The aesthetic blends North African and Middle Eastern influences with fantasy Gerudo design. Riju's throne room sits at the heart.
