Gerudo Desert

Location from The Legend of Zelda by Nintendo

A vast southwestern wasteland of scorching days and freezing nights — home to the Gerudo, the Yiga Clan, and sand-swimming Molduga that can swallow a horse whole.

The Gerudo Desert is Hyrule's harshest region — scorching heat during the day, freezing cold at night, and sand-swimming Molduga that detect vibrations and launch from the dunes to devour anything on the surface. In BotW, Divine Beast Vah Naboris creates a perpetual sandstorm. In TotK, an even worse sandstorm is linked to the Lightning Temple. The desert is also politically charged — this is where the Gerudo live, the people from whom Ganondorf was born, and they carry that association like a burden they didn't choose.

Appearance

Endless dunes stretching to the horizon, shimmering with heat haze during the day and frost-bitten at night. Gerudo Town sits at its heart. Scattered ruins, oases, and the occasional Molduga fin breaking the sand surface. The Yiga Clan Hideout is hidden within.
