Death Mountain

Location from The Legend of Zelda by Nintendo

The volcanic home of the Gorons — a mountain that smokes, rumbles, and requires fireproof gear just to approach, where rocks are food and lava is scenery.

Death Mountain is Hyrule's northeastern anchor — a volcano that has housed Gorons, Fire Temples, dragons, and Divine Beasts across every era. The heat is so extreme in BotW that wooden weapons catch fire and Link needs Flamebreaker Armor or fireproof elixirs to survive. The Gorons live here because they eat rocks and the mountain produces excellent specimens. Their cheerful community persists despite literal lava flows, monster infestations, and the occasional cursed dragon. In TotK, the Gorons are corrupted by Gloom-laced Marbled Rock Roast — essentially magical junk food.

Appearance

A massive volcanic mountain in northern/northeastern Hyrule. Permanent smoke plume, lava flows visible on the slopes, a ring of fire around the summit in OoT. Goron City is carved into its interior. In BotW, the Eldin region's extreme heat creates a distinctive red-orange landscape.
