Saria

Character from The Legend of Zelda by Nintendo

Link's childhood best friend in the Kokiri Forest — the girl who gave him an ocarina, taught him a song, and became the Sage of Forest knowing they could never go back to what they were.

Saria is Link's closest friend in Kokiri Forest — the one person who always believed in him even when Mido bullied him for not having a fairy. She gives Link the Fairy Ocarina when he leaves the forest and teaches him Saria's Song in the Sacred Forest Meadow — a melody that lets them communicate across any distance. As an adult, she is the Sage of Forest, having been captured by the Phantom Ganon in the Forest Temple. Her awakening as a Sage means she can never return to normal life. Their farewell is bittersweet — she always knew Link was different, that he'd leave, and that she'd be waiting.
