Koroks

Character from The Legend of Zelda by Nintendo

Nine hundred tiny forest sprites hiding under every rock in Hyrule — the Kokiri's evolved descendants whose seeds power Hestu's inventory magic and whose puzzles power player obsession.

Koroks evolved from the Kokiri (the forest children of Ocarina of Time) after the Great Flood. They serve the Great Deku Tree, carry seeds that grow new forests across the Great Sea in Wind Waker, and in BotW/TotK hide 900 Korok Seeds across Hyrule for Link to find. Finding all 900 is one of gaming's most notorious completionist challenges. Each Korok puzzle is a small environmental interaction — lift a rock, follow a leaf trail, complete a stone circle pattern. Hestu trades the seeds for inventory upgrades. The reward for finding all 900 is... Hestu's Gift. Which is a golden piece of Korok droppings. The developers knew exactly what they were doing.

Appearance

Small, round forest spirits wearing leaf masks over their faces. Each Korok has a unique leaf pattern. They appear when Link solves their environmental puzzles — lifting rocks, completing patterns, catching them, etc.
