Guardian

Character from The Legend of Zelda by Nintendo

Ancient Sheikah machines corrupted by Calamity Ganon — the spider-legged nightmares whose piano-note targeting sound is the most anxiety-inducing audio cue in modern gaming.

Guardians were built by the Sheikah to defend Hyrule. Calamity Ganon corrupted all of them during the Great Calamity, turning the kingdom's defense network into its greatest weapon. Their targeting laser — accompanied by a piano-note sound that has become gaming's most recognized danger cue — gives you about three seconds to either deflect, dodge, or die. Robbie spent fifty years reverse-engineering them to create Ancient Arrows, the only weapon that can one-shot them. Ancient materials from destroyed Guardians power the Ancient weapons and armor that Link can obtain.

Appearance

Octopus-like machines with multiple spider legs, a single glowing blue eye (corrupted to pink/purple), and ancient Sheikah design aesthetic. Stalkers are the most common — six-legged, mobile, relentless. Skywatchers fly. Turrets are immobile but dangerous. Decayed variants in BotW are partially broken but still lethal.
