Groose

Character from The Legend of Zelda by Nintendo

A pompadour-sporting bully who followed the hero to the surface, built a catapult to fight a god, and discovered that heroism doesn't require a magic sword — just a really big trebuchet.

Groose started as Link's least favorite person on Skyloft — a vain, boastful bully who kidnapped Link's Loftwing before the Wing Ceremony and had an unrequited obsession with Zelda. He followed Link to the surface expecting to be the real hero and discovered, painfully, that he wasn't. What happened next is Skyward Sword's best character arc. Unable to fight with a sword, Groose built the 'Groosenator' — a catapult — and used it to fight the Imprisoned, a massive world-ending monster that Link alone couldn't stop. He protected Zelda while Link fought Demise. He found his purpose not as the hero but as the hero's essential support. The pompadour survived everything.
