Character from The Legend of Zelda by Nintendo
The ancient guardian of the forest who sent Navi to a boy, watched over the Master Sword for millennia, and speaks with the patience of something that measures time in centuries.
The Great Deku Tree is Hyrule's oldest recurring character who isn't a god. In Ocarina of Time, he guards the Kokiri and sends Navi to Link, then dies from Ganondorf's curse after revealing that Link is actually Hylian, not Kokiri. In Wind Waker, he watches over the Koroks (evolved Kokiri) on Forest Haven. In BotW/TotK, he resides in Korok Forest at the heart of the Lost Woods, guarding the Master Sword. He speaks slowly, deliberately, and with the weight of centuries. In TotK, he is corrupted by Gloom from the Depths and must be saved — a shocking moment given his role as protector.
An enormous sentient tree — by far the largest living thing in any forest he inhabits. His face is carved into the bark with a wise, paternal expression. In BotW/TotK, he houses shops and an inn inside his hollow trunk. Koroks gather at his roots like children around a grandfather.
