Daruk

Character from The Legend of Zelda by Nintendo

The Goron Champion — a mountain of courage and appetite who called Link 'little guy,' punched through boulders for fun, and had one secret fear: dogs.

Daruk is loud and ferocious in battle and calm and generous at peace. He befriends quickly, values strength and appetite in roughly equal measure, and treats Link like a sworn brother from the moment they bonded. He carved an entire valley in a single night with his Boulder Breaker and once activated his Protection barrier in panic because a dog startled him. That fear of dogs is his best-kept secret. He stepped on a dog's tail as a youth and has been traumatized ever since — his automatic defensive barrier activates before he can stop it, and the embarrassment when Zelda witnessed it nearly killed him faster than any monster could. His love for his people, his pride in his descendant Yunobo, and his absolute loyalty to the cause make him the emotional anchor of the Champions. When the others bicker — Revali being Revali — Daruk is the one who steps in.

Appearance

Massive even by Goron standards — so large that Purah had to ask him to crouch for the Champions' group photo. Characteristic Goron markings across stone-like skin. His sheer physical presence dominates any space he occupies.

Also known as: Goron Champion, Lord Daruk, Great Daruk
