Location from The Last of Us by Naughty Dog
A city overrun by Hunters — survivors who kill travelers for their supplies, turning an American city into a trap that Joel and Ellie barely escape.
Pittsburgh (Kansas City in the HBO show) is controlled by Hunters — survivors who ambush travelers and strip them of supplies. The FEDRA presence was overthrown (Kathleen's revolution in the show), but what replaced it was worse: a militia that hunts people for resources. Joel and Ellie's passage through the city introduces Henry and Sam, and ends with Sam's infection and Henry's suicide. The underground tunnels beneath Pittsburgh house a massive infected nest that eventually erupts during the HBO show's episode — a literal horde of runners, clickers, and a bloater emerging from beneath the city.
An overgrown urban ruin with collapsed buildings, flooded streets, and the makeshift barricades of a community that stopped pretending to be civilized. Cars are arranged as roadblocks. Bodies are left as warnings. The architecture is pre-outbreak American city, reclaimed by decades of decay and violence. In the HBO series, this is relocated to Kansas City.
