Tommy Miller

Character from The Last of Us by Naughty Dog

Joel's younger brother — a former Firefly who built Jackson into a functioning community and who, after Joel's death, was consumed by the same vengeance he'd always criticized Joel for.

Tommy is Joel's younger brother and his moral opposite for most of the series. He left Joel's violent survival group to join the Fireflies, then left the Fireflies to build Jackson — choosing community over combat, hope over cynicism. He married Maria, helped establish the settlement's infrastructure, and became the kind of leader who resolves disputes over dinner rather than with a gun. Joel's death broke him. The Tommy who spent years building a peaceful life becomes the Tommy who pushes Ellie to pursue Abby, who goes to Seattle alone with a sniper rifle, and who refuses to let go of revenge even after Ellie tries to move on. He becomes the version of Joel that Joel was trying to stop being. The irony is devastating.

Appearance

Tall and lean with dirty blond hair, blue-green eyes, and a rancher's build. He wears practical frontier clothing — flannel, jeans, boots — and carries himself with the easy authority of someone the community trusts. Post-Joel's-death, he's scarred (lost an eye from a gunshot wound) and visibly harder — the warmth is gone.
