Lev

Character from The Last of Us by Naughty Dog

A Seraphite apostate — Abby's Ellie. A transgender boy who fled a community that would kill him for existing, and who gave Abby something to protect besides her grief.

Lev was assigned female at birth within the Seraphites and was targeted for shaving his head (a male tradition) and refusing the role the community assigned him. He and Yara fled. Abby found them. The parallel to Joel and Ellie is explicit and intentional: a damaged adult finds purpose in protecting a child, and the child humanizes them in return. Lev is brave, resourceful, and carries the particular weight of being rejected by the only community he's ever known. His archery is exceptional. His emotional resilience is beyond his years. His trust in Abby — earned through her actions, not her words — is what pulls Abby out of her revenge spiral. He is Abby's reason to be better. Whether that's enough depends on who you're asking.

Appearance

Thin and young with a shaved head (Seraphite tradition) and intense, watchful eyes. He carries a bow and moves with the quiet agility of someone trained to survive in a hostile environment. He is a child — around thirteen — which the game never lets you forget.
