The Waystone Inn

Location from The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss

Kvothe's meticulously kept inn in the village of Newarre, where he lives under the name Kote. Eerily quiet, holding secrets on its walls and behind its locks.

The Waystone Inn is a place of deliberate silence. The hearth crackles, the bottles are precisely arranged, the floor is swept clean — and yet the whole place feels like a breath held too long. There are no songs here, no laughter that lasts. The sword called Folly watches from the wall like a question no one dares ask. Upstairs, in Kvothe's room, a chest of roah wood sits with three locks and no key in sight. The inn is less a business than a burial — a place where a legend has come to quietly disappear.

Appearance

A well-built, clean inn of dark wood and polished stone. The common room is warmly lit but strangely empty. A mounting board behind the bar holds a single beautiful sword, and everything gleams with the attention of a man who has too much time and too little purpose.
