Location from The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss
The foremost institution of higher learning in the Four Corners of Civilization, where students study the arcane arts, artificing, medicine, and naming under the nine masters.
The University is a place that smells of old stone and ambition. Students cross the courtyards arguing about the principles of sympathy or the etymology of Yllish knots, while in the Fishery, sparks fly from half-finished artificing projects and the air shimmers with heat. Admission is by examination, tuition is set by the masters each term — a system ripe for political cruelty. Beneath the lecture halls and libraries, the Underthing spreads like a second university made of pipes and darkness. The institution is old enough that no one remembers who built it, and there are doors within its walls that have not been opened in living memory.
A sprawling campus of ancient grey stone buildings arranged around courtyards and greens. The Horns — twin towers of the Masters' Hall — rise above everything. Cobblestone paths wind between lecture halls, workshops, and dormitories, and the massive Archives dominates the eastern edge like a cathedral dedicated to knowledge.
