Imre

Location from The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss

A cultured city across the Stonebridge from the University, home to artists, musicians, moneylenders, and taverns. Where students go to live when the campus grows too small.

Imre is the University's shadow self — where the discipline of study gives way to wine, music, and poor decisions. The city thrives on the proximity of students with stipends and artists with ambitions. Devi runs her gaelet operation from rooms here, lending money at rates that would make a Cealdish banker blanch. The Eolian draws musicians from across the Four Corners, and the taverns fill nightly with arguments about alchemy and heartbreak in equal measure. Kvothe has fought, played, loved, and nearly been killed in these streets. The Stonebridge that connects Imre to the University is older than either — a single impossible arch of grey stone that no one built and no one can explain.

Appearance

A handsome city of pale stone and clay-tile roofs, its streets alive with buskers, painters, and students spending money they don't have. The ancient Stonebridge — a single massive arch — connects it to the University grounds across the river.
