Location from The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss
The Cealdish nation, renowned across the Four Corners for its banking houses, trade networks, and the shrewdness of its merchants. Practical, prosperous, and proud.
Ceald is where money talks and everything else listens. The Cealdish invented modern banking and never let the world forget it. Their letters of credit are accepted everywhere, their merchants can be found in every port and market town, and their reputation for financial acumen is so universal it has become a stereotype — one the Cealdish are happy to exploit. Wilem and Kilvin are both Cealdish, and they carry the culture's directness and pragmatism with them. The Cealdish language is precise and mathematical, and their approach to the world tends to follow suit. What they lack in poetry they make up for in reliability. A Cealdish handshake is considered as binding as any contract.
A land of industrious cities and well-maintained roads. Cealdish architecture favors function — sturdy stone buildings, iron-reinforced doors, and counting houses that look more fortified than some castles. The people dress practically, favoring dark colors and minimal ornamentation.
