Character from The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss
An old storyteller who speaks the true history of the world in Tarbean's taverns — he may be Amyr, he may be immortal, and his stories are not stories at all.
Skarpi tells stories in Tarbean's taverns, and his stories happen to be the true history of Lanre, Selitos, Myr Tariniel, and the founding of the Amyr. He speaks with the casual authority of an eyewitness, not a scholar, and when young Kvothe heard his tale of Lanre's betrayal, it was the first coherent account of the Chandrian's origin he had ever encountered. Skarpi knew Kvothe's name without being told it — a detail that suggests he is far more than a simple storyteller. He was arrested by the Tehlin church for heresy, which he accepted with the amused patience of someone who has been arrested before and will be again. He may be one of the Amyr — the ancient order that opposes the Chandrian — operating in plain sight.
Old and weathered, with the look of a man who has been many places and forgotten none of them. His eyes are sharp with an intelligence that his scruffy appearance belies. He drinks steadily and speaks to anyone who will listen, which is the perfect camouflage for a man dispensing dangerous truths.
