Character from The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss
An Adem warrior who approaches both fighting and desire with the same forthright clarity — she finds Kvothe fascinating for reasons that have nothing to do with his sword work.
Penthe is a skilled warrior who takes a frank interest in Kvothe that reflects Adem attitudes toward physical intimacy — straightforward, unembarrassed, and entirely separate from romantic attachment. She speaks with an Adem directness that Kvothe finds both refreshing and unsettling, and her views on barbarian customs regarding sex and relationships provide some of the story's most effective cultural commentary. She is an excellent fighter who helped Kvothe understand the Ketan from a different angle than Vashet's formal instruction.
Athletic and compact, with the coiled physicality of a trained Adem warrior. Her features carry the characteristic Adem stillness in public, but in private she is more expressive than most of her people, with a directness in her gaze that is disarming.
