Location from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
The luxury goods district — closest to the Capitol in geography and values, producing jewels, fashion, and children who volunteer to kill for glory.
District 1 is the Capitol's favorite pet. Its citizens craft luxury goods — jewelry, accessories, the beautiful things that Capitol citizens drape themselves in. In return, they receive preferential treatment: more food, better infrastructure, the illusion of being almost Capitol. Their children grow up watching the Hunger Games as aspiration rather than horror. Career tributes from District 1 volunteer eagerly, trained from childhood in combat academies that technically violate the rules but are never shut down. Names like Glimmer, Gloss, Cashmere — they name their children after the products they make for their masters.
Polished stone buildings and manicured streets that ape Capitol aesthetics. Shop windows display gemstones, fine fabrics, and perfumes. Cleaner and wealthier than most districts, though the shine is borrowed. Training academies for future tributes operate in plain sight.
