Item from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
A military holographic map projector showing the location of every pod — every trap, bomb, and muttation — planted throughout the Capitol's streets, carried by Squad 451 on their unauthorized mission to assassinate President Snow.
The Holo was issued to Squad 451 for what was supposed to be a propaganda assignment: film the Mockingjay's squad advancing through already-cleared Capitol streets. Instead, Katniss led them off-script toward Snow's mansion, using the Holo to navigate a city that had been transformed into a final arena. The Capitol's streets were seeded with pods — automated kill zones triggered by proximity. Flesh-melting mist. Barbed wire nets. Muttation lizards in the sewers. The Holo mapped them all, but the pods were being activated and repositioned in real time by Gamemakers treating the Capitol invasion as one last Hunger Games. The device has a self-destruct function — speak 'nightlock' three times and it detonates, destroying everything in a significant radius. Squad members were trained to self-destruct rather than be captured. The Holo is war technology, but in the Capitol's streets, it was an arena survival tool.
A handheld device that projects a three-dimensional holographic map of the Capitol's streets. Pods — hidden weapons and traps — glow as colored markers in the projection. The device is matte black, military-grade, built to survive field conditions.
