Primrose Everdeen

Character from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Katniss's younger sister — blonde, gentle, brave in quiet ways — the reason for everything. Her name was drawn at the Reaping. Katniss volunteered. The world changed.

Prim is the moral center of the series — not because she does anything heroic in the traditional sense, but because she's the reason Katniss does everything. She's the sister who couldn't be allowed to die, the innocent who justified the revolution, and ultimately the casualty that proved the revolution had become what it was fighting against. She grows from a terrified twelve-year-old to a competent field medic in District 13. She has her mother's healing gift and a quiet courage that doesn't announce itself. She runs toward the injured Capitol children when the bombs fall. She dies in the second explosion — Gale's design, Coin's order.

Appearance

Small and slight with blonde hair, blue eyes, and fair skin — she takes after her mother's merchant-class looks rather than the Seam. She has a round, sweet face and gentle hands steady enough for healing.

Also known as: Prim, Primrose, Little Duck
