Location from The Gods are Bastards by D.D. Webb
A magical disaster zone — the site where Imperial terror weapons killed the orc god Khar, leaving a scar on reality that still bleeds magic and monsters centuries later.
Athan'Khar is a war crime made geography. The Tiraan Empire used weapons of mass magical destruction to annihilate the orc civilization and kill their god, and the result is a zone where the rules of reality are broken. Magical contamination makes the area dangerous to approach, and the things that have evolved in the toxic magical environment are worse. It serves as the Empire's greatest shame and its most effective argument against magical weapons of mass destruction. Nobody talks about Athan'Khar at Imperial dinner parties. Everyone knows it's there.
A blasted wasteland where reality is damaged. The ground is scorched and twisted, vegetation grows wrong — too fast, too colorful, with teeth. The air shimmers with unstable magical energy. Ruins of the original orc civilization are visible through the distortion. The sky above is permanently overcast with clouds that glow faintly from the magical radiation below.
