Character from The Gods are Bastards by D.D. Webb
A Thieves' Guild enforcer — a font of barely controlled rage wearing the Guild's discipline like a leash, useful when the Guild needs violence and dangerous the rest of the time.
Shook is what happens when the Guild's philosophy of checking power meets someone who just wants to hurt people. He's useful — the Guild sometimes needs violence — but he's a blunt instrument in an organization that prides itself on precision. He follows orders because the alternative is exile, and exile means losing the only structure that keeps him functional. His relationships are transactional and often abusive. He views people as tools, threats, or targets, and his emotional range runs from controlled anger to uncontrolled anger with brief stops at calculating. The Guild tolerates him because he's effective, and questions how long that calculus will hold.
Big, broad, and built for intimidation. Weather-beaten features, scarred knuckles, and the flat stare of someone who has stopped counting. Dressed in practical dark clothing. Carries himself with the tightly wound tension of a spring about to release.
