Omnu

Character from The Gods are Bastards by D.D. Webb

God of Life, the Sun, and Agriculture — the gentlest of the Pantheon, who preaches compassion in a world that keeps demonstrating why compassion alone isn't enough.

Omnu is the Pantheon member most comfortable with mortals and least comfortable with divine politics. He speaks plainly, laughs easily, and projects the warmth of someone who genuinely likes people — which is rarer among gods than it should be. His doctrine is simple: life is sacred, help each other, and violence is always a failure. This simplicity is deceptive. Omnu is one of the oldest and most powerful members of the Pantheon, and his gentleness is a choice, not a limitation. The few times he has acted in anger, the results were catastrophic. He is gentle because he has seen what he's capable of when he isn't. He chose Toby as his Hand because Toby's natural compassion doesn't need to be taught — it needs to be tested. Omnu's challenge to his paladin is the hardest one the Pantheon offers: be kind in a world that punishes kindness.

Appearance

Manifests as a large, burly man with sun-darkened skin, callused hands, and a farmer's build. Dressed simply in earth-toned linen. Has a broad, weathered face and kind eyes that crinkle when he smiles. His divine radiance manifests as gentle warmth, like standing in sunlight.
