Embras Mogul

Character from The Gods are Bastards by D.D. Webb

The leader of the Black Wreath — Elilial's most visible mortal agent, a warlock who prefers negotiation to violence and is dangerously good at both.

Mogul is a pragmatist serving a divine cause, which makes him the most reasonable extremist you'll ever meet. He genuinely believes Elilial's exile was unjust and that the Pantheon's order is built on hypocrisy, and he makes these arguments calmly, persuasively, and with evidence. He'd rather convert you than kill you — it's more useful. He runs the Black Wreath as a professional organization rather than a fanatical cult, which is Elilial's influence showing. He manages warlocks, coordinates operations, and handles public relations for a religion that most people consider demon worship. He's good at his job in ways that make the Church very nervous. Under the diplomacy is someone who will absolutely resort to infernal violence when negotiation fails. He just prefers not to, because violence is expensive and attracts attention.

Appearance

Dark brown skin, handsome features, dressed in well-tailored civilian clothing rather than anything that screams 'cult leader.' Carries himself with the relaxed confidence of someone who has multiple escape plans for any situation. His smile is warm and genuine, which makes him more unsettling to people who know what he is.
