Razorback

Location from The Expanse by James S.A. Corey

Racing yacht and the fastest civilian ship in the solar system. Built for one thing: acceleration. Used by Avasarala and Bobbie to escape from Mao's yacht and reach safety during the Ganymede crisis.

The Razorback exists because rich people like going fast. Racing yachts are the solar system's most expensive hobby — ships designed to sustain G-forces that push the limits of what the human body can survive even with the juice. Julie Mao raced her before everything went wrong. When Avasarala needed to escape Mao's ship during the Ganymede crisis, the Razorback was the only option. Bobbie flew while Avasarala endured burns that nearly killed her — an elderly politician in a ship designed for young athletes, bleeding from her eyes and nose while the most important message in the system waited to be sent. The Razorback has no weapons, no armor, no defenses except speed. She outruns torpedoes by simply accelerating harder than their fuel allows. In a universe where every ship is a weapon, the Razorback is a reminder that sometimes the only strategy is to be somewhere else, very quickly.

Appearance

A needle of a ship — all drive and almost no hull. The Razorback is a racing pinnace, built to win the system's most dangerous sport. Her frame is barely wide enough for two crash couches in tandem, wrapped in a whisper-thin hull of racing composite. No weapons, no cargo space, no amenities beyond life support. The Epstein drive is comically oversized for her mass, giving her an acceleration profile that would turn unprotected humans into paste.
