Rashid

Character from The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher

The Gatekeeper of the White Council — a man who guards the boundary between reality and the Outside, sees possible futures, and always knows more than he reveals.

Rashid is the Senior Council's most enigmatic member, which is saying something for an organization full of centuries-old wizards. His role is singular: he guards the Outer Gates, the barrier between reality and the Outsiders who want to unmake it. This means he spends more time outside normal reality than in it, and it shows. He speaks in layers — every statement is both immediate truth and deeper warning. He has helped Harry at critical moments, always appearing exactly when needed with exactly the right cryptic advice, then vanishing back to his post. His relationship with time is complicated; he seems to perceive multiple futures simultaneously. He voted to spare Harry's life more than once on the Senior Council, suggesting he sees something in Harry's future that matters.

Appearance

Tall, lean, with dark skin and a long face marked by age and something deeper. Wears robes that seem to shift between Eastern and Western styles. One eye is artificial — a prosthetic that glows faintly with magical light and sees things his natural eye cannot. Moves with the careful deliberation of someone navigating paths others can't perceive.
