Character from The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher
A Temple Dog disguised as a two-hundred-pound grey mountain of fur — a celestial guardian who chose Harry and communicates through pointed looks and supernatural gravitas.
Mouse is a Foo Dog — a Temple Dog — which means he's roughly as supernatural as anything else in Harry's world, he just happens to look like the world's largest and most huggable pet. He understands human speech perfectly, senses supernatural threats before anyone else, and his bark carries a power that can make demons flinch. He chose Harry, not the other way around, and that choice says something about both of them. He serves as Maggie's protector with the kind of dedication that transcends species. Other supernatural beings recognize what he is and treat him accordingly — Lea called him a 'temple dog' with genuine respect. He communicates through body language, pointed stares, and occasional woofs that convey more meaning than most people's paragraphs.
An enormous grey dog, easily two hundred pounds, with thick fur that makes him look even bigger. Resembles a Caucasian Shepherd or Tibetan Mastiff mix — massive head, intelligent dark eyes, and a general air of calm authority that no normal dog possesses. When he's being protective, the air around him gets heavy and his bark can stagger supernatural entities. When he's being a dog, he drools on things and steals food. Both versions are completely genuine.
