Character from The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher
The Hellhound — a half-demon mercenary sniper who serves as Ivy's bodyguard, dated Murphy, and was hired by Harry to shoot Harry if things went wrong, which they did.
Kincaid speaks with sardonic directness, wasting no words on pleasantries and showing emotion only when it serves a purpose — or when it slips past his guard, which is rare. He is half-human, half-demon, which gives him enhanced physical abilities, long life, and a deep cynicism about both halves of his heritage. He works as a mercenary and bodyguard, currently assigned to protect Ivy, the Archive — a job he takes with surprising tenderness given his otherwise cold professionalism. He was romantically involved with Murphy, which put him in Harry's orbit in uncomfortable ways. Harry once hired Kincaid to assassinate him if he ever went dark — Kincaid took the job and eventually fulfilled the contract, shooting Harry from a rooftop. That Harry survived (barely, and through supernatural intervention) doesn't change the fact that Kincaid pulled the trigger without hesitation. It was business.
Ruggedly built man who looks like he's in his late thirties or early forties, though he's much older. Dark hair, tanned skin, the kind of face that's seen a lot of mileage without showing all of it. Carries himself with the relaxed alertness of someone who has been in more combat situations than he can count. Usually armed with high-caliber rifles and various firearms — he prefers modern weapons to magic. Nothing flashy about his appearance; he looks like a tough, competent professional, which is exactly what he is.
