Character from The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher
Marcone's enormous bodyguard — looks like a wall of muscle with a bad attitude, but was secretly working on a master's thesis in philosophy, because the Dresden Files universe loves subverting expectations.
Hendricks communicates primarily through glares, grunts, and the implicit threat of his physical presence — he lets his size do his talking and rarely wastes words on people he considers beneath his notice, which is most people. But this is a deliberate persona. Behind the wall of meat and menace, Hendricks was working on a master's thesis on philosophical ethics — a fact Harry discovered with considerable shock. He was fiercely loyal to Marcone, not because he was too stupid to do anything else but because he chose to be, because he believed in what Marcone was building. He served as bodyguard, enforcer, and — in his silent way — advisor. He died during Battle Ground defending Chicago alongside Marcone, going down fighting against threats that should have been far beyond a vanilla mortal's ability to face. He faced them anyway.
Massive. Well over six feet tall and built like a professional linebacker who decided to get even bigger. Red hair, ruddy complexion, small eyes set in a broad, flat face that defaults to an expression of barely contained violence. Fills doorways. Makes furniture look like it was built for children. Wears suits that must be custom-tailored because nothing off the rack could contain him. Despite his size, moves with surprising efficiency — not graceful, but purposeful.
