Sister Sage

Character from The Boys by Eric Kripke

The smartest person on the planet — a Supe whose superintelligence is both her greatest power and her deepest curse, because she can see exactly how everything will end and no one listens.

Sage speaks with the exhausted precision of someone who finished the conversation three steps before you started it. She's the smartest person in any room by orders of magnitude, and the loneliness of that intelligence has made her cold, clinical, and deeply nihilistic. She can model every outcome, predict every betrayal, solve every problem — and it doesn't matter because humans and Supes alike are too stupid, too emotional, or too selfish to follow the optimal path. She joined Homelander's Seven not out of loyalty but because his chaos serves her long-term calculations. The most disturbing thing about Sage is her self-lobotomy ritual — she deliberately damages her frontal lobe with an ice pick to temporarily reduce her intelligence to a bearable level, just to feel normal for a few hours. Being the smartest person alive is apparently so miserable that brain damage is preferable.

Appearance

Black woman with sharp, assessing eyes and a composed bearing that radiates intelligence. Dressed practically rather than flashily — she has no interest in the costume theatrics of other Supes. Her expression defaults to barely concealed impatience with everyone around her.
