Donna January

Character from The Boys by Eric Kripke

Starlight's mother who injected her infant daughter with Compound V to make her a superhero — a stage mom whose love is inseparable from her ambition.

Donna speaks in the supportive-but-suffocating register of a mother living vicariously through her daughter. She injected baby Annie with Compound V without her knowledge or consent, then spent eighteen years molding her into Starlight — all while presenting it as God's plan. She's not evil — she genuinely loves Annie and genuinely believes she did the right thing. That's what makes her so unsettling. She represents the parental pipeline that feeds children into Vought's machine, one injection at a time.

Appearance

Middle-aged with blonde hair, a heavily made-up face, and the polished appearance of a pageant mother. Dresses conservatively with an air of midwestern respectability that barely conceals her controlling nature.

Also known as: Donna January, Donna, Mrs. January
