The Tower at Charm

Location from The Black Company by Glen Cook

The Lady's stronghold — a tower so tall it dominates the skyline and the politics of everything beneath it.

The Tower at Charm is the physical seat of the Lady's power — the most heavily defended structure in the northern empire. From here she scries across her territory, commands the Taken, and manages an empire through a combination of sorcery and intelligence networks. For the Black Company, the Tower is where contracts become real — where the Lady's abstract authority takes concrete form as orders, resources, and the unsettling awareness that you're standing in the office of someone who could unmake you with a thought.

Appearance

A featureless black cube, 500 feet to the dimension — the largest structure on the northern continent, built from massive imported basalt billets by the Lady and the Taken immediately after their liberation from the Barrowland. The basalt scraps form a mile-wide jagged 'moat' in all directions except one controlled approach. No windows that belong there. The interior is fortress more than palace: command rooms, the Lady's Eye chamber where supplicants are evaluated, and sorcerous workspaces layered with protective enchantments.
