The land beyond the mountains — home to goblins, orcs, dark knights, and a civilization that the Axiom Church defined as evil so thoroughly that even its residents believe it.
The Dark Territory is the Underworld's designated antagonist zone — populated by races (goblins, orcs, giants, dark knights) that the Axiom Church classified as enemies. The irony, which the series eventually addresses, is that the Dark Territory's inhabitants are Fluctlights too — artificial souls raised in an environment designed to make them hostile, then condemned for the hostility they were designed to exhibit. Gabriel Miller (as Vector) leads the Dark Territory's forces during the Alicization War, but the real tragedy is that the war itself was engineered by the simulation's designers to test military applications of artificial intelligence. Every death on both sides is data.
A harsh, volcanic landscape of black rock, red sky, and sparse vegetation. The terrain is hostile: jagged mountains, sulfurous rivers, and fortresses built from dark stone. The aesthetic is 'fantasy evil kingdom' played straight — fire, shadow, and armies. It is deliberately less beautiful than the Human Empire, because the simulation was designed with a bias.
