The Lake appears peaceful until it erupts. Rayquaza bursts from the water when Fox's Arwing passes overhead, destroying the ship and dragging the pilot into a fight for survival. The contrast between the lake's serenity and the sudden violence is one of the story's most effective jump scares. After Rayquaza's defeat, the Lake becomes the starting point of the Fox and Diddy Kong partnership — two fighters from completely different worlds united by a crash landing and a shared enemy.
