Tabuu uses them to puppet the entity that created the World of Trophies, making Master Hand issue commands and oversee a tournament system that serves Tabuu's dimensional expansion. When Ganondorf discovers the chains, the revelation shatters his understanding of the power structure. He thought he served Master Hand, who served willingly. Instead, he discovers that Master Hand is a slave and Tabuu is the real power. Ganondorf's futile attack on Tabuu follows immediately. The chains represent Tabuu's philosophy: control is preferable to destruction. He does not kill Master Hand — he binds him, because a puppet god is more useful than a dead one.
