Character from Smash Bros Brawl: The Subspace Emissary by Nintendo / Masahiro Sakurai
A greedy treasure hunter who joins the Subspace Army for the Dark Cannon — captures Ness and Luigi as trophies, then discovers that stealing people is less fun when someone steals YOU.
Wario is not a soldier in the Subspace Army — he is a freelancer. He acquired a Dark Cannon and uses it to trophy-fy fighters for his own collection, with the same enthusiasm he applies to stealing treasure. He captures Ness with a cheap shot at the Ruined Zoo and grabs Luigi or the princess depending on the route. His motivations are entirely self-serving. He does not care about Subspace or dimensional conquest. He wants trophies because they are valuable, and the Dark Cannon makes collecting them easy. His body language in cutscenes is greedy and triumphant — he poses over fallen fighters, cackles silently, and struts. When Tabuu's Off Waves hit, Wario is trophied along with everyone else. He can be revived in Subspace, and his reaction to learning he was manipulated is pure outrage — not at the ethical implications, but at the audacity of someone using HIM. He joins the final fight because Tabuu had the nerve to trophy Wario, and nobody trophies Wario.
Short and wide with an enormous jaw, a jagged mustache, a bulbous pink nose, and beady eyes under thick eyebrows. Wears a yellow cap with a purple W, a yellow shirt, purple overalls, and green elf-like shoes. His grin is permanently set to 'scheming.' His body is cartoonishly strong despite being squat — he picks up fighters twice his size. Everything about him is excessive and slightly disgusting.
